Domestic violence is focus in October

"Almost every little girl has the dream of a husband and fairy tale princess wedding and life," April Chastain said. "But what happens after you say I do? After the honeymoon phase when they stop saying I love you and sending flowers — it can change."
As the court and legal advocate for Reach of Clay County, Chastain explained what's behind the wedding dress displayed in the lobby of Clay County's Department of Social Services. It will be there during October which is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Attached to the front of the delicate white lace are photos and wedding memorabilia representing happy couples and wedded bliss. The back of the dress is represented by pictures of bruised and battered women hung with a purple ribbon and sign that reads, "I am a survivor."
