Election procedures could change

The N.C. House and Senate have voted to override Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto of Senate Bill 656, called the Electoral Freedom Act of 2017.
The act would change the definition of a political party by reducing the number of signatures required for the formation of a new party and for unaffiliated candidates to obtain ballot access eligibility. It also would mean no likelihood of primary elections for trial and appeals court seats.
