Clay County offers a variety of options for local kids when it comes to hunting Easter Eggs. Here are a few of them:
Friday
• Kick off the egg hunting season with a night hunt hosted by Meadow Grove Baptist Church.
The eggs will be all aglow during the hunt which begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14 at the VFW Ball Park behind the Black and Gold Club on Myers Chapel Road. Everyone is invited to bring a chair and flashlight, listen to the Easter story and hunt glow in the dark Easter eggs. Register by calling 389-9444.
Saturday
• There will be eggs galore for the annual Clay County Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. at the Clay County Recreation Park on Lake Chatuge. The eggs, filled with candy and surprises will be hidden along the lake bank for different age groups to go find. After the eggs are found, drawings for the filled Easter baskets will follow. The annual event is sponsored by the Clay County Chamber of Commerce.
• Also beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday is the annual Easter Egg Hunt at the John C. Campbell Folk School. Families should arrive early to hunt for filled Easter eggs at open house.
The event is free and open to kids of all ages. There will be three areas for egg hunting, divided by age: 1-4, 5-8, and 9 and older. Park in the gravel lot across from the Keith House to allow plenty of space for egg hunting and for the safety of the participants. Visit: www.folkschool.org or call (828) 837-2775.
