
A nighttime St. Patrick’s Day storm may have brought the “Luck of the Irish” to some Clay County residents while others experienced heavy property damage. Despite dozens of downed trees, damaged houses and even some smashed vehicles, there were no injuries reported.
The home of William and Mary Harrington on Chairmaker Overlook actually burned during the later hours of the storm. Clay Fire Chief Brian Anderson said the call came in shortly after midnight Sunday morning and no one was home. “Units arrived and found the structure to be fully involved,” he said. “Units protected exposures close to the property in defensive mode.” He said even though the fire was reported during the storm’s time frame, the cause has not been determined.
