Many stories have been written in this newspaper by and about Carl Moore. A well known figure in the community for 85 years, he grew up and raised his family here.
Moore is community oriented. He has been instrumental in the establishment of not only Tri-County Community College, but also Clay County Historical & Arts Council and the Clay County Chamber of Commerce. He helped organize the first Festival on the Square. Moore also served as county manager from 1986 to 1991. Through all of this, he has retained his infamous and irreverent sense of humor.
Moore is also a man of faith. He has been an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Hayesville for more than 50 years.
Within the past few years, the leaders at the church decided they wanted to honor the long-time members of the congregation in some way.
