Murphy Medical Center’s Surgical Services Department gathered on Tuesday, Nov. 21 to recognize their dedicated team of surgical technologists, who earned National Certification in surgical technology.
The hospital’s team of technicians completed an accredited 48-credit hour educational program covering anatomy and physiology, microbiology, surgical procedures, clinical practice settings and peri-operative patient care.
They were also required to log a minimum of 1,000 hours of working experience and 120 procedures as the primary surgical technician, prior to sitting for the certification examination, which is administered by National Board on Certification in surgical technology and surgical assisting.
