Residents turn out to offer comments on consolidation

Whether to merge the Clay County Department of Social Services and the Clay County Health Department boards may be decided by resolution in a special meeting called by the county commissioners at 7 a.m. Thursday at the Clay County Courthouse.
Eleven speakers trooped to the microphone before a standing room only crowd at the courthouse Monday evening — all to voice their opposition to such a merger.
Clay County Manager Mark Pullium, who has been in his new position since July, opened the meeting with a Powerpoint presentation outlining some of the arguments for consolidation.
