After an hour on the road, staff and residents from Clay County Care Center arrived in Cullowhee, N.C. for the season opening game between Murphy and Pisgah High School on Thursday, Aug. 17.
Hosted at Western Carolina University’s stadium, the game was a thrill to watch for all of the residents. With every call and score, everyone in the stands cheered on the young athletes. Gaining the most attention from the residents was a player for Murphy’s team as his grandfather, one of Clay County’s residents, was able to see him play in person.
