Months ago, an endeavor to provide comfort to the homeless and reduce plastic that ends up in landfills came across the activities department of Clay County Care Center. Without hesitation, resident Merry Cerwin was up to the task.
A local representative of the “Mats for the Homeless” project, Jackye Prine, pitched the idea to the residents and showed them how the crocheting process went.
The concept was to make a large mat for those without a place to call home to sleep on.
