On a Monday afternoon, just over four months from now, a total solar eclipse will darken Clay County. The Aug. 21 total eclipse will be a once in a lifetime event for those who get to witness it, but there will be few other places in the United States where the eclipse will be visible in its totality.
Knowing that, Clay County’s Solar Eclipse Task Force has been working on ways to capitalize on the thousands of extra people expected to come for the show. Lee Holland, chairperson of the Clay County Travel and Tourism Board and a leader of the Eclipse Task Force, is excited about what the county has planned.
