Stop results in drug charge for fugitive

A Young Harris man was arressted on a drug charge and failure to register as a sex offder after he was pulled over by local deputies on suspicion of driving while impaired.
Sheriff Vic Davis said on May 2 at approximately 1 a.m. Clay County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a GMC Sonoma on Jackrabbit Road for suspicion of DWI. The driver was Donald Ray Barnhill, of Young Harris, Ga.
A Clay County K-9 Unit was on scene at the time of the stop and the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, Sheriff Vic Davis said in a news release. Methamphetamine was allegedly discovered during a search of the car and further information revealed Barnhill is a registered sex offender.
