Memorial Day weekend was mostly uneventful for traffic accidents in Clay County; however, two wrecks just prior to the holiday resulted in injuries.
A woman was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. as the result of a car accident on Tuesday afternoon, May 24.
Pamela Crisp, 52, of Hayesville, was traveling east on Highway 64 when her car struck a vehicle driven by Scott Barton, of Hayesville. Barton, 45, had been driving his 2003 Toyota north on Hinton Center Road, but failed to yield at the stop sign. Barton pulled into the path of Crisp’s 2013 Ford.
Crisp' vehicle sustained an estimated $7,000 in damages while Barton’s damages were about $3,500, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol report.
