Cabin rentals approved by board

 Downtown Hayesville may have a few new places for day hikers and other overnight visitors. During the Town of Hayesville Board of Adjustment meeting Thursday, April 12, Shelagh Whitney presented plans for The Crossings. She explained how she and her husband, Mike Whitney, developed their idea. 

“Mike and I came here in 1988,” she said. They built a home a few years later, then moved to Clay County in 2001 after driving here regularly. They recently bought the Hampton Way apartments in town and the adjacent piece of land. They want to build four small one room tourist rental cabins of about 300 square feet each between Town Creek and the apartments’ parking area.
