
Truett Memorial First Baptist Church ordained two men into the ministry of service. Pastor Johnny Foster conducted the event.
Rick Cantrell was ordained as a deacon. He will have a list of 10 families for specialized ministry as well as any in the church. The office of deacon is one of service.
Cantrell is the grill master for church-wide dinners. Besides grilling, his other hobby is hunting. He is the owner of Cantrell’s Body Shop. His family consists of wife Lynn and children Caity and Hunter.
Jeff Young was ordained to preach. He assists Minister of Children and Youth Brian Payne with the youth in teaching Sunday School and chaperoning activities. Young is part of a team of leaders in the children’s church program under Rosie Penland.
He leads a Youth Serve program of teaching the youth to help older adults and shut-ins. He also acts in the church’s dramas. Young is self employed with two businesses: selling golf carts and landscaping and mowing.
He lives with wife Michelle and children Taylyn, Mason and Jenna.
Truett is located in Hayesville on Church Street at the top of the hill. Pastor Johnny Foster leads the congregation in an active program for members and community.
