Old Man Winter has barely arrived, but the flu is already in full force around North Carolina along with the rest of the country. There have already been twelve deaths in the state for this flu season, according to Clay County Health Department Nurs- ing Supervisor Tanya Long. “There has been a steady increase in flu diagnosis in the past few weeks,” she said. “Three of those reported deaths were between Sun- day-Saturday, Dec. 17-23 and included a child.”
