Two people died as a result of a Friday morning collision on Highway 64 west of Hayesville. A Franklin, N.C. woman faces charges of misdemeaner death and reckless driving in connection to the accident. According to witnesses’ state- ments, at approximately 12 p.m. Friday, a Dodge pickup driven by Barbara Ann Day, 48, of Franklin, was traveling westbound on U.S. 64 when she passed a black SUV in a no-passing zone near Walt’s Engine Repair, according to the accident report filed by Highway Patrol Trooper Robert Ellison.
