Merged health, social services boards is topic

 In 2012 the North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation that gave counties new options for how they can organize and govern some local human services agencies — including local health departments and departments of social services.
 Whether to merge the Clay County Department of Social Services and Clay County Health Department boards is the topic of a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 in the multi-purpose room at the county courthouse.
