A Towns County couple faces charges including "furnishing alcohol to a person under age" after a Friday night party at their home in Young Harris, according to a release from the Towns County Sheriff's Office. They also face a charge of "maintaining a disorderly house."
The release says Towns County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Young Harris residence shortly after midnight on Friday, Oct. 27 after receiving information as to a party involving underage drinking. Upon arrival deputies located "a large number of minors" who had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Arrested were Rex Allen Cothren, 57, and Mary Veronica Cothren, 42. Both are employed in non-teaching positions by Clay County schools.
The investigation is ongoing and the release from Sheriff Chris Clinton, said additional charges are likely.
