
Members of the Clay County Board of Education spent considerable time at their September board meeting Monday debating whether to apply for lottery funds for a major school construction project.
They had learned that Tier 1 funding might be available, but Clay County would have to come up with a third of the cost in matching funds in order to begin the application process.
The N.C. Department of Commerce annually ranks North Carolina’s 100 counties based on economic well-being and assigns each county a Tier designation.
