Aerospace engineer to teach kids to safely build bottle rockets

With so much attention focused on eclipse traffic and crowds, very little has been said about what a learning opportunity the event will be for kids.
Aerospace engineer Valerie Gsell hopes to change that. During Clay County Solar Fest at 11:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21 at Settawig Road, Gsell will be teaching kids how to make safe bottle rockets. Children who want to build a bottle rocket are being asked to save clean, two liter drink bottles to build the rockets. Nosecones and fins will be provided for kids to build and launch their bottle rockets, then take them home to play with again. All supplies are provided except for the empty bottles.
