Fiber optic and debt topics of EMC town hall

Questions about expanding fiber optic Internet service and the debt that is being accrued abounded at the town hall meeting held by the board of Blue Ridge Mountain EMC on Thursday, April 13 at the new Towns County Recreation and Conference Center.
 The board started having town hall meetings in an attempt at transparency after the tumultuous past few years.
The meeting started off like a typical with financial and policy updates and the manager’s report. Financial chairman, Chris Logan, of Hayesville, went over how well the co-operative was doing year to date. 
Overall, they are showing significant improvement from last year with revenue of more than $60 million already, compared to the $57 million generated all of last year, making the margin from last year increase by $3 million.
