
At the same time many summer residents are returning to their mountain homes, others are leaving for vacations. An empty house, business or even an RV or storage unit can be an open invitation to thieves.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office advises people to always be vigilant and not make theft easy. Clay County Sheriff Vic Davis, Sheriff’s Investigator Lt. Todd Wingate and Sheriff’s Captain Josh Litchfield shared some important advice this week.
Davis said this is the time of year when breaking and entering calls increase. “As people come back from Florida, after being gone for months, sometimes they find things stolen,” he said.
