
An arrest in connection to heroin trafficking led Cherokee County Sheriff's Office to the suspect's residence where nearly 100 guns were seized in addition to a substantical amount of cash, according to a news release from Sheriff Derrick Palmer.
On April 4, officers arrested William David Timpson, 59, as a result of a four-month long investigation conducted by the Narcotics Unit and the Patrol Division of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. During the arrest and subsequent search of Timpson’s Ranger Community residence, 99 guns were seized including rifles, shotguns and seven handguns. Additionally, $6,734 in cash and MasterCard gift cards were seized, Palmer said.
Drugs allegedly seized included approximately 32 grams of heroin and 12 quarts of non tax paid liquor along with various paraphernalia.
Timpson was incarcerated in the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of trafficking in opium or heroin, maintainint place/vehicle for consumption of controlled substance and following too closely.
The magistrate set a $1,000,000 secure bond. Timpson is being detained while awaiting an April 12 district court date.
“Excellent work by everyone concerned," Palmer said. "Timpson was a major player in the drug trade in Cherokee County. We expect additional charges to come out of this investigation not only involving Timpson but those who conspired with him to deal narcotics in Cherokee County.”
