Road work begins

Motorists on Qualla Road may experience minor delays, but the highway will remain open as work to patch and pave it gets under way.

Harrison Construction is the general contractor and Higdon has subcontracted the job which includes milling up the “bad spots” and patching and leveling of asphalt before the 3.64 miles are repaved, according to county DOT Supervisor Charles Maney.

“They’ll move real fast,” Maney said. A section of Fires Creek Road will also undergo improvements.
