
Growing up in rural Nepal, Satyam “Sam” Singh never dreamed that he would come to America. One day, as he led worshipers in song at his Buddhist Temple, he met an American woman, Jennifer Green. She had seen the passion and skill he put into his worship and thought that he had a lot to teach her and others in Missoula, Mont. where she lived.
Many foreign people had cycled through his temple in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal; coming from as far away as Italy, Germany and of course, America. None had ever made such an offer to him and when she said she would sponsor his visa he was dubious. He thought she was joking so he blew her off and went about his life in college.
