Opening day for one-stop voting was the busiest so far, according to Clay County Elections Board Director Julie Hall, and the pace has been steady ever since.
As of Wednesday morning, 1,819 residents had cast ballots. This represents 20 percent of the county’s registered voters and includes absentee and early voting numbers.
“It’s going pretty good, we’re busy and that’s the way we like it,” Hall said. “About the only complaint we’ve heard is that some people are upset because there’s no voter ID requirement, but other than that, it’s been good.”
With nine days remaining in early voting, the county is on track to match the one-stop and absentee voting numbers of the 2012 election when 3,390 residents voted before election day.
