The Hiawassee Police Department in Towns County has made multiple drug-related arrests over the past few weeks which included several Clay County residents.
Eight suspects are facing felony drug charges and an additional six people were charged with misdemeanor drug charges, according to a news release from the police department.
The arrests were results of traffic stops by Hiawassee Police officers with the assistance of the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.
Those facing felony charges are:
• Adrian Martin, 46, of Hayesville: Charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
• Tonya Newberry, 35, of Bartow Ga.: Charged with possession of methamphetamine.
• Heather Heard, 41, of Young Harris Ga.: Charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug related object.
