A keen observation by a Macon County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Friday, Sept. 2 led to the arrest of a Hayesville man who was also a fugitive out of Georgia.
According to MCSO reports, deputy Matthew Breedlove saw a vehicle driving erratically before slamming on the brakes to avoid running a red light on U.S. 64. Breedlove turned his cruiser and began to follow the vehicle along Old Murphy Road. He eventually caught up to the vehicle near the intersection of Patton Road and identified the driver as Brent Brandon Hinnant, 27, of Hayesville.
“When the deputy turned on his blue lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over the driver pulled away and began to flee down Patton Road,” Macon County Sheriff Robert Holland said. “A chase ensued that led to the driver pulling his vehicle into a field and then fleeing on foot.”
