Finding a job, and one that you truly enjoy, in a place like Clay County can be a difficult task. Regardless of age, education and experience, it can be quite discouraging and monotonous to be in the state of applying for work. Coming this Tuesday to Hayesville’s Historic Courthouse/Beal Center is a day dedicated to aiding in the process.
The Clay County Job Fair and Career Day is intended to serve as a bridge between those looking for jobs and those seeking out good employees. From 12 to 5 p.m. the doors will be open for anyone to come and speak directly with local employers and learn about what is available in the job market.
This event is sponsored in partership between Clay County and the NCWorks Career Center. Clay County Economic Development Director Valerie Flanagan says NCWorks Career Center is a great resource when looking for jobs. The center works to also advise job seekers on the training and education required to get hired.
“We’ve planned this event in Clay County to broaden the scope of job opportunities available to young people and those that want to live and work in this area — which is inclusive of the surrounding counties and work forces,” said Flanagan.
Attendees are encouraged to show up prepared for the occasion. It can’t hurt to bring along copies of a current resume and be ready to network a bit. Organizational leaders from all ends of the career spectrum will be present to answer questions and help determine if your goals and values would align with their company. A leader might even have you fill out an application on the spot.
Refreshments will be available as guests circulate the room and various staff of Clay County will be available for a variety of helpful tidbits. The event is not solely designed for those who know exactly what to do and how to do it. There are many questions and uncertainties that crop up from how to write a compelling cover letter to coaching tips for a job interview.
If you are looking for full-time, part-time, after school, weekend and summer jobs consider attending the Clay County Jobs Fair and Career Day. For details contact Valerie Flanagan, 389-0089.
